Master your digital wardrobe with up to three levels of folder organization and automatic security inheritance.
Order in the Library: Introducing Nested Collections
We’ve all experienced that moment of organizing a physical space—like a walk-in closet—where a single shelf just doesn’t cut it.
Imagine you have a beautiful wardrobe. You designate one large cabinet for your Professional Work. But as your career grows, tossing every single client document, contract, and presentation into that one cabinet creates a chaotic pile.
To fix it, you add drawers inside that cabinet for individual projects or clients. Then, inside those drawers, you use small divider boxes to separate the contracts from the marketing assets.
Suddenly, you aren't just storing things; you are managing them. You have control.
The Power of Three Layers Deep
We want your digital library to feel just as intuitive and powerful as a perfectly organized home. That is why we are incredibly excited to introduce Subfolders in GemReader.
You are no longer limited to a flat list of top-level collections. GemReader now supports a folder hierarchy up to three levels deep:
1. The Root Collection (The Cabinet): Your high-level category (e.g., Research, Fiction, Finances). 2. Subfolder Level 1 (The Drawer): A distinct sub-category (e.g., Tax Year 2026). 3. Subfolder Level 2 (The Box): The exact destination (e.g., Receipts or W-2s).
This gives you the granular control you need to build a library structure that matches exactly how your brain works.
Enterprise-Grade Security, Automatically Inherited
Now, let's talk about peace of mind. If you lock your walk-in closet door, you expect everything inside that closet to be secure. You shouldn't have to lock the cabinet, then lock the drawer, and then lock the box individually.
We built GemReader with that exact philosophy: All subfolders automatically inherit the security settings of the root collection.
If your top-level 'Finances' collection is encrypted and locked, every single drawer and box you create inside it instantly inherits those exact same encryption and privacy rules. You get the freedom to organize deeply without ever compromising on data security.
How to Get Started
Creating a subfolder is as simple as building a regular collection.
1. Open the collection where you want to add a new layer. 2. Click the New Collection icon in the toolbar on the top right. 3. Name your new subfolder, and you're good to go!
We’ll take care of the rest behind the scenes—automatically nesting the folder and applying all the inherited security settings from your root library.
