Whether you have a digital library of ten books or ten thousand, organizing your collection should feel personal, readable, and visually refined. Discover GemReader's updated Library Color Swatch system and dynamic theme adaptation.
Curated 11-Color Swatch Palette
When creating or editing custom collections, or assigning custom backgrounds to books without embedded cover images, you now have access to an expanded 11-color palette.
This curated selection ranges from Soft Pastel Rose and Warm Sunset Orange to Deep Midnight Cyan and Minimal Ash Gray. Each color choice is built around dual-state tokens.
Selecting a swatch assigns a semantic color key to your collection or cover, ensuring that your library looks vibrant during the day without glaring in low-light environments.
Dynamic Dark Mode Adaptation
Previously, setting a pastel highlight on a collection folder meant that switching your app theme to Dark Mode could cause harsh contrast breaks. With our updated color slot mapping, semantic slot matching solves this.
When you select a Teal swatch, GemReader stores the color key. In Light mode, it renders a soft mint background with dark text. Switch to Dark mode, and GemReader seamlessly adapts the folder background to a deep teal with high-contrast text.
If an imported item uses a custom hex code outside the default palette, GemReader automatically computes luminance to guarantee text remains completely legible.
Custom Covers for Image-less EPUBs
Not every document or classic EPUB comes equipped with high-resolution artwork. GemReader auto-generates clean, minimalist typographic book covers for titles missing cover images.
By default, image-less books are automatically assigned a color swatch using deterministic hashing based on the book title.
Via the Book Action Modal, you can tap any swatch to override the default cover tint and manually match the visual theme of your collection.
Tactile UI Controls & Accessibility
We updated our reusable Swatch Color Picker components across both library management dialogs and reader settings.
Prominent touch targets prevent accidental selections, while active swatches scale smoothly with an inner high-contrast selection ring so your current choice is clear across all display sizes and color modes.
All of these color choices are safely stored as preserved encrypted metadata alongside your library data, automatically balancing themselves whenever you toggle app themes.
